A Circle of leadership and character

Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society recognizes top SFA student leaders in five areas: student activities and organizations, athletics, fine arts, student media, and government. New ODK members are inducted each spring and enjoy scholarship opportunities, leadership development programs, career resources and access to a national network of like-minded students working to make a difference in their communities.

Eligibility

Juniors, seniors and graduate students with leadership experience in one of the five areas and a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply online at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. Applications are generally due about three weeks after the start of the semester. New members are inducted at the end of each semester during a formal ceremony, which is followed by a reception for current and new members and their families and guests.

Preliminary Membership

ODK uses an interview process to determine its preliminary members from the applicants each semester. Prelims attend both general body meetings and preliminary meetings. The highlight of this process is the Prelim Project, which is a new project developed and executed by each semester's preliminary members. Prelims accumulate points by participating in ODK's committees, meetings and events, and these points are used as part of the evaluation process for deciding who will be offered full membership. Interested students should note that ODK’s requirements for membership and activity schedule may preclude distance learners from participating in the organization.

Awards and Recognitions

SFA’s ODK Circle is a nationally recognized chapter, having received the Superior Circle Award in 2007, 2009 and 2014 and the Presidential Award of Excellence in 2008. In 2014, the SFA Circle was also awarded the Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development Grant. SFA served as one of two host circles for the 2010 ODK National Leadership Summit and Convention, as well as a host circle for the ODK Regional Drive-in conferences in 2013 and 2015.
